Naturally Dyed Silk Jacket – Botanical Print

Asian-style jacket dyed with Tanacetum and printed with Scabiosa atropurpurae, Datisca cannabina, Tagetes patula, coreopsis tinctorial, and Cosmos sulfuris all grown in the dye garden outside the studio. 
 
Silk noil is made from spinning the short fibres of silk into thread like cotton, linen, or wool (silk is normally made from extremely long continual thread spun by unraveling a pupa). By spinning the silk, it gives fabric made with it a similar texture to linen.
