Orvus Paste Detergent

Gentle cleanser for natural dye and fiber preparation -  150 ml
 
A pH neutral, biodegradable paste detergent designed for the care and preparation of protein fibers such as wool and silk.
It is suitable for both pre dye scouring and post dye washing, helping to remove impurities while maintaining the softness and integrity of delicate fibers.
 
A staple in our studio
We use Orvus Paste daily in our studio for its reliability and gentle action. It cleans effectively without altering color, making it especially suitable for botanically dyed textiles.
 
How to use
Add your fibers to water at room temperature in a dye pot and dissolve a small amount of paste into the bath, around 1 teaspoon per pound of dry fiber.
Gently heat the bath until it reaches approximately 70°C, maintaining this temperature for about one hour. Move the fibers occasionally with care.
Once complete, allow the bath to cool naturally before rinsing thoroughly in water.
 
Care for botanically dyed textiles
Wash in cold water, up to 30°C.
Wool and silk items should always be hand washed. Dry wool flat to prevent stretching.
Cotton, linen, and other plant based fabrics can be machine washed, though hand washing is recommended.
Use a pH neutral detergent. Avoid detergents containing citric acid or sodium carbonate.
Dry in the shade.
